my mom has had lower abdomen pain on the right side for about 2 weeks and now its all the symptoms of appendicitis except the fever. do you think its appendicitis?
What Are the Symptoms of Appendicitis?
The classic symptoms of appendicitis include:
Dull pain near the navel or the upper abdomen that becomes sharp as it moves to the lower right abdomen. This is usually the first sign.
Loss of appetite
Nausea and/or vomiting soon after abdominal pain begins
Abdominal swelling
Fever of 99° F to 102° F
Inability to pass gas
Inability to pass gas
Almost half the time, other symptoms of appendicitis appear, including:
Dull or sharp pain anywhere in the upper or lower abdomen, back, or rectum
Painful urination
Vomiting that precedes the abdominal pain
Severe cramps
Constipation

If it has been going on for two weeks, it probably is not appendicitis - this condition rapidly gets worse and worse. She could be having a kidney stone, problems with her ovaries, diverticulitis, urinary tract infection, etc. There are a lot of things that this could be and she needs to go to a doctor and get it treated. It could be only constipation giving her all of these symptoms too. Has she been taking some over the counter pain medication regularly and has she tried some Dulcolax, milk of magnesia to see if it resolves this problem?

I was born with Congenital CMV Infection
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cytomegalov...
http://www.congenitalcmv.org/home.htm
It left me with hearing loss: deaf 100% in right & deaf 60% in left
Im very lucky as i could have been born with blindness, total deafness, abnormalities, brain damage etc...
I can still keep losing hearing, as it caused me to lose the hairs on
my cochlea that produced sound, down through a hole somewhere in my ear... which needed surgery to block up at age 8/9 but can come back...
I am wondering, since my mum had this while pregnant with me (she didnt know it as it produces flu like symptoms and nothing else) and it gave me this, and since the CMV still flows in my veins
If im able to pass it on to my unborn child now..
.
I have heard i am immune to having it again as ive had it before and its still in my system for life so i am protected from having it again
Does this mean i cant pass it on?
I'm confused, as ive tried to get information but its all about the women who are now pregnant with CMV not someone who was born with it and pregnant now...
my first app with my ob is on wed, im 17wks, and im wondering if i can get info from anyone now before hand,
Anyone here had it?
Anyone know about it?
Anyone here born with it?
Thanks for the help in advance.

CMV are a part of the TORCH viruses and parasites that can cause congenital defects in babies born to mothers with acute infections. Acute infection means it is a new infection recently acquired during pregnancy that resulted in the fetus and or newborn exposure to the virus causes developmental defects and acute infection in newborns.
Infections acquired during other times besides during pregnancy is usually like any other virus in which one gets ill or asymptomatic and the body fights off the infection and gets well after ones immunity kicks in. The virus is retained in the person for life but it isn't as prevalent and infectious in the person as the immune system keeps it in check. It does not cause exposure to the fetus.
You will not pass it on to your children. Usually it is passed on when a person is acutely infected where the virus is more commonly present in higher amounts throughout the body.

You will not pass it on to your child. You have developed antibodies for this infection (that is why you can't get it again). Your unborn child is protected by those same antibodies because you share blood.
Don't worry. History won't repeat.

okay so about 2 days ago i started to feel like i was coming down With a bad stomach flu. i just had bad nausea, headaches, stomach aches and the taste of vomit in my mouth. i never did vomit btu i felt like i need too... also i had my period so that didn't make it any better! anyways last night and today i have had BAD stomach aches and diarrhea and gas! my stomach hurts so bad.... i just drank some chocolate milk... i know i shouldnt have done that but i was so thirsty!! now my stomach is just hurting so bad.... i have like (explosive diarrhea) whenever i go... some will be runs... but its mostly gas! ive drank water and ate crackers.... what do i need to do?? i live an hour from a hospital so thats not possible if i can help it.
what can it be?? what can i do?? i dont really have any medicene except for tylenol and ibeuproffin.... please help!
i need some relief ASAP!!!
thank you soo much!

I've had pretty much the same thing for the past 4 days.
Whatever you do DON'T TAKE IBUPROFEN! it's a stomach irritant and will make you 10times worse. The only thing you can take for pain is paracetamol.
The only thing you can really do it drink a lot of water and eat easily-digestible bland foods such as plain white bread/toast, white rice and bananas. I found that the bland diet helps a lot with the stomach pains, don't drink orange juice! That hurts SO much, trust me!
You've just gotta try and get that virus out of you!
Try not to take any anti-diarrhoea tablets as they'll just hold in the virus that's causing you to be ill in the first place.
Ride it out and you should be better within the next couple of days.
Good luck, and get well soon!

Stay on clear liquids only for 24 hours (water, non-caffeinated soft drinks, broth, jello). If the diarrhea is better after that time, you can add bananas, rice, applesauce and plain toast to your diet along with the clear liquids x 24 hours. If the diarrhea doesn't return, you can gradually increase your diet, but stay away from spicy/greasy foods and dairy products (including chocolate milk) for a few more days.
If the diarrhea won't go away in spite of staying on clear liquids and advancing your diet as directed, you need to see your doctor. You can get dehydrated and dehydration can be dangerous.
No medicine is going to give you long term relief if you keep throwing solid food in your stomach. That just gives whatever pathogen is causing the diarrhea more to work with. If you can stay on clear liquids for 24 hours, then advance your diet as outlined, your diarrhea should stop. Immodium, sold over the counter, will help, but relief is temporary. Let's see. This has been going on for a year at least.
Every now and again, maybe 2-3 times this past month alone. I get that tight stomach feeling. It increases WHILE I am urinating, so as I get closer and closer to the relief, the tight lower stomach pain gets very intense.
Also, if I am sitting on a couch and get up quickly and I stretch out my stomach, the pain gets even tighter. It hurts to get up and down. So I end up during tuck and roll and slide off the couch sideways...
Now the thing is, all those sites tell you symptoms but are they suppose to be chronic?
My symptoms happen every 2-3 weeks, sometimes not as painful as the previous one. It may take a day for a bad case of it to go away.

Your symptoms aren't typical of appendicitis as the pain there is on the right side of the stomach. While it can be chronic, usually the pain becomes worse with fever, nausea & vomiting. If you are having problems with urinating, the pain may be from bladder or kidney problems. With chronic pain you should really have your MD check you. Good luck.

nopee. when you have apendicities youll get a rreaally sharp pain in your lower stomach then it will make its way to the right side of your belly button. it feels like getting stabbed in the stomach lol. i had apendicities when i was likee 13. i also had a kidney infection just recently. sounds gross i kno. but it reaalyyy hurt to pee and i cud only pee like a tiny bit. but yep you shud goto the docter!

Appendicitis comes on suddenly and does not last very long because you either get your appendix immediately removed or it bursts. And I mean immediately. You have something else you need to see a doctor.

I have been sick for a month now. After two different types of antibiotic I am sure its a virus. I cough up a lot of clear phlegm in the morning. I am starting to get scared because it is affecting my asthma and I have never been sick for this long before. What do I have? Do people have viruses that last this long? I have taken Prednisone but it only made it seem worse. What should I do?

It's about 2 weeks i am really sick and it's 1 month I'm not ok. I didn't use antibiotic, last day doctor told me it would be not a simple virus.so go to your doctor.I hope you be better and your doctor don't tell you what my doctor told me.
