what should i do? he is always irritated and takes it out on me .he has his own business. he makes furniture and is extremely good at it.the problem is for the past 2 weeks has been edgy all the time and thats taking its toll on me. what am i supposed to do?

That 110 number is horrible. My 2nd number was 90-100 and I went on meds to get it to 70-80. He's a walking heart attack. And if I miss my pills, my mood gets worse, too. Tell him you want him to live to see his grandkids, etc. Some cliche. It should work.

Men can be so stubborn about this!
First off don't nag him about it- it will make it worse. Is there a friend/ minister/ family member you can get to help with this?
You can't force someone to take a pill, but find out why he refused to take it. Is it rumors about side effects of the pill (some do cause impotence) or something else? I have found that making a person understand the side effects of high blood pressure sometimes helps.
I would also approach the life insurance issue - if he dies who will take care of the kids - not trying to scare you.
If all else fails, make a bargain with him: If you try working with a doctor for one month I am willing to do ____ (be reasonable).
If you work and have access to EAP counseling please do that - you would be surprised how much it can help! Other counseling could help you too - sometimes there are sneaky ways to help someone who isn't wanting help now.
Good luck

Hi Cool
There is not much you can do for him but you can make him realise what he is getting him into if he doesn't get his blood pressure checked out.
You could use the blackmail tactics of what might happen to people he will leave behind and how these people might think.
I hope this helps.

Approach him with genuine concern... but do your homework first on high blood pressure and it's risks. Lay it all out for him in black and white. Let him know that he has a doctor's appointment next Tuesday (for example) and tell him that you would really like to see him get some help.

every time i take my pulse i have a heart rate around 100. im only 18 and yes i drink and the other night i woke up and had a really fast heart beat which freaked me out, i think it was kinda irregular also. i stayed up cause i was scared and it calmed down and went away soon after. is this normal. if i cut down on my drinking with this problem go away? i had an echo cardiogram about 6 months ago and it was normal.

My heart rate is around 110-120 beats per minutes and I'm 19. It all depends on the person. Some people can only have one at 55 and others have really fast ones. The more in shape you are the slower and less hard your heart has to work.

Alcohol is a vasodialator meaning it causes your vessels to dialate causing a drop in blood pressure. So the heart try's to compensate by increasing heart rate to get adequate blood to your organs. But I'm not sure why it sounds irregular you may have to ask your Dr.

You can't die from having a broken heart, but there is a medical term called a "broken heart syndrome" that has many factors that has the potential to lead to dying. Such as depression, not eating... the kinds of things that can deterriorate you to death.

Unless you have broken heart syndrome, or Takasubo disease. It mimics a heart attack, but you will have a normal or inconsistent angiogram results. Heart muscle becomes weak for at least a few weeks, supportive treatment is needed and the recovery rate is high.
Broken heart by a gun shot, recovery rate is very low
Broken heart in terms of emotion, you need to solve the problems o hand and you will recover with time. Time heals everything although it does not prevent scarring

Well yeah some people become depress and malnourished. This can lower their immune system and they can get sick easier. I've heard of couple that their significant other dies, and they pass a few weeks later.

if you are talking about your heart sientifically and it's got issus then yes
but if you have just broken up with someone or something then no

I don't think you can die from a broken heart I mean just because you feel hurt inside or depress doesn't mean you atually have a broken heart.

BP is actually : 86/60
heart rate is around 110.
i went for an ECG etc.
but what could've caused it?

i run for 40 minutes a day
eat nothing besdies fruit and riveta frikken crackers.
and your telling me it's my lifestyle?

Although your BP is low, low BP is only ever a problem if you are symptomatic with dizziness etc. It's only just borderline hypotensive which is defined as BP <90/60. If you are not symptomatic and it's not causing you any issues then don't worry about it. What did your ECG show? Did they do other tests? Why did you go for an ECG in the first place? Single BP readings should never be consdiered diagnostic anyway. Your above normal heart rate could be explained by anxiety at the time of reading.

do you smoke, do any form of exercise?? normal bp is 120/80. Your arteries are probably very stiff and are therefore not elastic enough to recoil when a surge of blood passes through, hence a low blood pressure. Normal hr is about 70 beats per min, lack of exercise and poor diet is most likely the cause. also, were u sitting down, relaxed and at rest when the hr was taken cos all these factors can affect it.

In the first place, and it is unlikely that this would be for someone discovery diabetes should limit the use of easily assimilated carbohydrates - it is sugar, honey, marmalade and jams, candies, bakery products and other sweets, sweet fruits and fruit: grapes, bananas, raisins , dates. Often there are even recommendations to exclude these products from their diet, but this Action
needed only in severe form of diabetes.
